How to Join the N.Y.F.H.E.

There are 24 places available on the 2027 NYFHE Course. Please remember you need to be at least a Grade 7 standard or a very good Grade 6, ready to take your next exam soon.

Age range. 13 - 22. (Precocious virtuosos outside of this age range could be considered :-). Contact us.

Also bear in mind the stamina you will need for extended playing over a six day period.


We invite you to make an application by:

1. Filling in the form at the bottom of this page.

2. Check your Email for an acknowledgement and further instructions.

3. Send us (by Email or post) a single A4 sheet (approx. 300 - 500 words) explaining in more detail:
  • Your current experience with the French Horn.
  • The current repertoire you are studying.
  • Your musical ambitions for the next three years or so.
  • Why you would particularly wish to join the NYFHE course this year.

Considering the limited places, we expect to be over subscribed so we will try to invite applicants we believe will gain the most from the NYFHE experience.

FEES:

The 2027 summer course fee will be £900.00 for the six days, Sunday 22nd to Friday 27th August.
This includes tuition, accommodation and all meals.

We have a limited EARLY BIRD offer for those who apply and pay a deposit by 31 August 2026 - £50.00 discount.

In special circumstances of hardship we may be able to offer some support for fees by way of a bursary funded by our generous supporters. If you are hesitant to apply only because of cost then please contact us anyway and we can discuss your options.


There is nothing to pay here, at this stage. We will consider every application and will reply with details of how to pay when accepted for the course.

Who will be our primary contact? Student (if over 18) or Parent (if student is under 18)? We need contact with whoever will be paying the course fee. We don't mind so long as it is someone who checks their Emails and can respond about practicalities, money, etc..
